As a grammar school, we place considerable emphasis on acquiring good work habits in the early years. All pupils are set homework each weekday evening, starting with about one hour of work in the Lower School and increasing thereafter. Pupils learn self-discipline and the skills of independent study, so that they are equipped not only for the public examinations that come later, but also for the world beyond.
The curriculum is broad. All pupils in the First and Second Forms study a wide range of subjects, designed to keep their options open for as long as possible. There is no streaming, but pupils are setted for mathematics.
Most pupils take ten GCSEs or IGCSEs at the end of the Fifth Form, although a few examinations may be sat at the end of the Fourth Form. In the Sixth Form, most students sit four A2 levels and take the majority of their external exams in either January or June of the Upper Sixth. Almost all our leavers go on to university, with a large number winning places at the Top 20 universities in the UK.
