school life

The school culture is friendly and relaxed but respectful. The value of good relationships is constantly reinforced and successes are celebrated in a variety of ways. Carrots are favoured over sticks and a system of rewards motivates pupils to set high standards inside and beyond the classroom.

An active house system operates to engender team spirit and promote positive competition in sport, the arts and academic achievement. Children are allocated a house from the very youngest to the oldest in the school.

The school day begins at 8.30am with registration, followed by assemblies or Matins services depending on the day and age of the children. For pupils in Transition through Year 2, the day ends at 3.30pm. Years 3 to 6 finish at 4.00pm.

The school operates an early class from 8am for parents and carers who need to drop their children early. A variety of after school activities are available to pupils, running on until 5.30pm. These include:

• French club
• Tap, ballet & modern dance
• Art clubs
• Junior choir
• Number club
• Football
• Netball
• Jazz club
• Living world club
• Judo
• Chess club

Charges for these activities vary depending upon the provider.

Alongside the after school clubs, we run a Late Class. These supervised sessions run from 3.30pm until 5.30pm where children partake in supervised play or complete their homework, depending upon their age.

The charge for these sessions is £3 for every half hour period.

The school enjoys its own purpose built dining room where the well qualified catering staff prepare lunches for all pupils age 5 and above. All meals are prepared on site and the menu provides a healthy, balanced diet for our pupils. Kindergarten pupils bring a packed lunch to school.
