The Careers Department provides advice and information on both future careers and entry to university.
We attach particular importance to the task of advising students about the right path to take after leaving school. A team of experienced staff, working under the direction of the Head of Careers, is available to help students whenever key decisions need to be made. The resources of a well-organised library are supplemented by university visits, talks by visiting speakers and the opportunity for work experience. There is an annual Careers Convention, where students can find out about a wide range of careers and professions. They also have access to students and professionals in their chosen field via Network OR.
We provide specific support to students looking to apply to Oxford or Cambridge, or to read Medicine, Veterinary Science or Dentistry. This includes one-to-one advice, specialist input, and practice interviews.
Almost all of our leavers go on to university each year to study courses ranging from Economics to War Studies and from Archaeology to Multimedia Technology. On average, over 90% of our leavers achieve a place at their first choice university, with most of the remainder going to the second choice university.
