Green Shoots and Kindergarten

Green Shoots and Kindergarten

We believe that an outstanding Early Years education lays the foundation for everything that follows. A happy, fun and caring atmosphere in which each child’s thirst for knowledge is expertly fostered and rewarded with praise and recognition is the key to future educational excellence.

For the earliest possible start at Reigate St Marys, our new Green Shoots class takes children from rising 3 years of age and gives them a very gentle introduction to school life. Attending for a minimum of three morning sessions, with the option of adding additional morning and afternoon sessions as required, pupils enter a warm, caring and stimulating environment that encourages children to learn through fun and rewarding play activities.

Our next step is Kindergarten, which provides a wealth of activities and experiences to continue each child’s learning journey. Pupils attend for a minimum of 5 mornings and can add additional afternoon sessions as required.

Both Green Shoots and Kindergarten follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum and this is well planned to balance the children’s need for exploration and play with enjoyable learning experiences, both in the classrooms and in our purpose built outdoor areas. In addition, both classes are able to enjoy full use of Reigate St Mary’s facilities and 15 acre site.

With excellent teacher to child ratios staff are able to interact with children one on one during the day motivating and encouraging children to investigate and discover, as well as provide individualised learning opportunities and activities for each child.

In addition to the Early Years Curriculum, children benefit from specialist taught Music and Games lessons each week. Children also visit the main ICT suite where they have individualised use of a computer, to compliment the computers and Interactive Whiteboards that they have in the classrooms. Pupils in Kindergarten have the option to take additional Dance and Ballet lessons.

Each child’s progress and development is monitored and recorded individually and staff prioritise communicating the progress made to parents during this very early and exciting stage in a child’s education.
