The completion of our Indoor Pool in January 2009 has been a welcome addition to our facilities at RGS. Students in the First to Fifth Form are given the opportunity to use the pool in Curriculum PE lessons and the Fourth to Sixth Form can choose swimming as their games option.
In addition to the curriculum swimming we run four Extra Curricular sessions a week.
Squad sessions run on:
Monday 1600-1700 for First to Third Form
Wednesday 1320-1400 for all years
Friday 1600-1700 for Third Form and above
Social Swimming runs on a Tuesday lunchtime from 1320-1400 and is open to everyone.
Swimming Team members should attend at least one session a week but are welcome to attend any that are open to them.
Swimming Cups
The following swimming cups are awarded throughout the year:
Blakiston Cup - For Swimming Style is awarded to a First Form student at the end of a competition usually held in the spring term.
Monitor Junior Swimming Cup – Awarded for commitment to school swimming. Usually
awarded to a Third Form student but may be awarded to a younger student in exceptional circumstances.
Greenhill Senior Swimming Cup – Awarded for commitment to school swimming. Usually awarded to a Sixth Form student but may be awarded to a younger student in exceptional circumstances.
Swimming Sports Cups – Awarded to the winners of the year group swimming competition (First to Fourth Form) and Form Cups awarded to the form whose competitors score the most points.
