David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation
Jo Elphick and Sally Case from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation visited Reception today. They talked to the children about the animals that the foundation supports. They focussed particularly on elephants and explained why they have tusks and why their ears are so big. Did you know that elephants roll around in the dust to keep themselves cool? The children were amazed to learn that elephants are very good swimmers. The foundation has an elephant orphanage where rescued baby elephants can live. It was fascinating to hear some of the rescue stories.
The children then made lovely elephants of their own out of milk bottle cartons. Thank you so much to the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation for such an enjoyable morning.
