RGS Godfrey Searle Choir…..

On Saturday 18June, the RGS Godfrey Searle Choristers took part in a wonderful concert at The Minster in Croydon.

Mrs Glynne-Jones and the Head of Choral Music at Whitgift School (Ronny Krippner) came up with an idea for an annual ‘Three Choirs’ concert where the combined choirs from The Minster, The Chapel Royal at Hampton Court and The Godfrey Searle Choir from St Mary’s would come together and provide an evening of outstanding choral singing.

The massed choir was made up of over 100 trained male voices and trebles. The concert began with a rendition of ‘Zadok, The Priest’ and the sound that the choirs made in the opening phrase clearly took the breath away of members of the audience. It was a very special moment.

Each choir sang three pieces on their own and alt- hough the Godfrey Searle Choristers were fewer in number, they received many compliments for their musically sensitive performance and beautiful tone. This concert will take place at St Mary’s Church next year and we would encourage you to watch out for this rare musical treat when it comes to Reigate in the Summer of 2017.

Photographs of the event can be found in the ‘Galleries’ area of the website. They are courtesy of Nela Pecher (Avalanche Studio).
