Headmaster’s Roundup 8 September 2016
Dear Parents
It has been a fantastic start to the new term and I loved watching excited children meeting up with old friends and making new friends too as they arrived yesterday. They all enjoyed meeting their new teachers and teaching assistants and there was a lot of fun during the exciting lessons, both in and outside of the classroom, (including Year 3 travelling to Greece), and this was all in the first few hours of Wednesday morning!
So, the term has got off to a flying start and we are thankful to once again have great weather so the children can enjoy the grounds and burn off all that energy which they seem to have in abundance.
I apologise once again for the late arrival of my welcome back letter. As explained in the subsequent email there was a technical problem meaning it eventually came 8 hours late—got to love technology! In that letter I welcomed the new staff and new pupils. Without exception the new pupils seem to be settling very quickly which bears testimony to the warm and welcoming environment created by both the teachers and the children.
I also mentioned the fantastic results achieved by Reigate Grammar School students this year. For further information do please refer to the letter emailed to you on Tuesday which can be found on the website. Needless to say we are particularly proud of former Reigate St Mary’s pupils who have done so well.
Tomorrow morning we will be formally opening our new outdoor play/learning area. We will also be having a competition to name this new area and will choose from the children’s best suggestions. We are very grateful to FOSMA for funding this excellent facility which will be developed and improved further in the coming months.
Please note that swimming begins this coming week and electives begin the following week from Monday, 19 September.
