Headmaster’s Roundup 22 September 2016
Dear Parents
At the end of the first week of the new term we had the formal opening of the FOSMA new garden and we were delighted to have many former and current FOSMA committee members to celebrate this with us. The Gardening Club and Eco Committee members have been busy planning what will go into the planters, and have made a good start this week. The garden is getting a lot of use at break times as the children are enjoying having somewhere quiet to chat or read a book.
On Saturday the Boys Games team ran the annual U10 Football Tournament. As ever it was a fantastic event enjoyed by many local teams and well done to our boys who played with great determination and excellent team spirit.
What a fantastic event the Run Reigate half marathon was. Having so many of our pupils involved in the kids race, (almost half the school signed up), and having our own Gage Weber win the competition to design the medal, Reigate St Mary’s and Reigate Grammar School were right at the heart of this community event. Well done to all of the children who took part, and to many parents too.A special mention to Mr Austin who, despite an injury to his foot, completed the half marathon in an admirable 1 hour 39 minutes. Also well done to those who ran for Stripey Stork.
This week we have had children fly to India, others join a Shackleton expedition and others join pirate ships. Next Wednesday we look forward to our first class assembly led by 6B. Parents and grandparents are most welcome to attend in the sports hall at 8.40am.
Have a lovely weekend.
