Headmaster’s Roundup 3 November 2016

I hope that you all enjoyed the two week half term, particularly as the weather was so kind to us. During the half term break all sorts of brilliant activities were going on. On Friday, 14 October pupils from Years 5 and 6 departed for their football and netball tour to the South Coast. They all had a fantastic time with the boys doing particularly well winning the majority of their matches. A big thank you goes to all of the staff who organised and led this tour. More details can be found in the sports bulletin tomorrow.

During the second week the Choir went on their first ever national tour singing in four different cathedrals and we are grateful to Mrs Glynne-Jones and colleagues for organising and running this brilliant tour.

Our RSM Holiday Club was also running during the first week of the half term break and if this is something you would like to make use of during future holiday breaks do please contact the School Office.

On Wednesday morning we were delighted to welcome Dr Vohra and Mrs Dutta who, along with 5 pupils led the Lower School Assembly teaching them all about the celebration of Diwali. They wore wonderful traditional costumes and even danced for the Lower School.

I hope that many of you will be joining us for the FOSMA fireworks display this Friday. Gates open at 6:30pm with the ‘Fireworks to Music’ at 7.15pm. It is going to be a great event!

As I am sure you all know, every year we support Mustard Seed’s Love in a Box Christmas appeal. Shoe boxes, with small gifts and essentials such as writing implements, tooth brushes etc. are packed and sent to children in Eastern Europe who would otherwise have nothing, and in the link below, the joy it brings these under privileged children is clear to see. We have about 20 boxes so far, but it would be lovely to send more. If you can spare some time, and about £15 to pack a box, it will transform a child’s Christmas. Please bring in by 17 November.
