Upper School meet author, Tom Palmer…..

It’s not often you meet a person whose name you have seen on the spine of a book, but on Thursday the children in the Upper School did just that! Tom Palmer, who has written books about rugby, football, spies, aeroplanes, ghosts and the First World War, came and talked about his writing and gave the children a quiz based on a penalty shoot-out.

Tom revealed that as a child he hated reading, and only began to enjoy it when his Mum encouraged him to read football magazines. He started writing when he was 20, and didn’t manage to get anything published until he was 40. Tom has had 40 books published, but has actually written 50. There is no doubt that Tom Palmer has a Growth Mindset! He has been successful through perseverance, hard work and the belief that he would succeed.
