Deputy Head’s Roundup 14 September 2017

It felt like a quiet second week as we have greatly missed Year Six and Mr Culverwell, Mr Austin, Mrs Rushby and Mrs Salmon. Having waved them off on the coach for Wales early on Monday morning we have been watching the weather forecast closely and look forward next week to seeing the photographs of the climbing, initiative tests, gorge walking and kayaking.
Year Two are also out today, at Legoland, and so the school feels strangely silent. It’s lovely that they are all having fun and experiencing some fantastic opportunities.
In Lower School Achievement Assembly this morning I was really impressed with how many children will be taking part in Run Reigate on Sunday. The event is the proud winner of Best UK Half Marathon 2017 and takes place this weekend in Reigate Priory Park. Dame Kelly Holmes will once again be there to present prizes and support the races. Race packs have been collected in anticipation of this year’s event and our staff team have been pounding the streets in preparation for the adult races in the morning.
We are so proud of the children who will be taking part and look forward to seeing them in their coloured t-shirts at the event. Many of the school staff will also be supporting the event along the course and will be cheering on our runners, young and old.  Please do support the RSM team who are running for George and the Giant Pledge. In next week’s Bulletin we will be publishing lots of photos. What a fantastic way to end the week!

Please can I remind everyone about the Year 1-6 Curriculum Evening on Wednesday at 7pm. There will be a short introduction by myself on our new Feedback Policy and an opportunity for you to find out about the English and Maths Curriculum.
