A Tudor Assembly by 6R….

This morning, 6R shared their recent learning about Tudor Entertainment. A clap of thunder announced the arrival of ‘the weird sisters’ from Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’. We were told about how Tudors enjoyed attending public executions at the weekends and how they played a different version of tennis. The wealthy would also take part in jousting tournaments.

Watching plays became popular and the first theatres were built in Tudor times. We heard about the life and work of William Shakespeare, which included a quick fire summary of the plot of ‘Macbeth’ – very gruesome!

The children also shared some of their work completed in English lessons, where they had composed their own spells in the style of Shakespeare, using rhyming couplets as the format.
