The Hour of Code initiative
We live in a world surrounded by technology. We know that whatever field our children choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works. At Reigate St Mary’s we firmly believe that our pupils not only need to have a passion for and ability to use technology but also the ability to create the algorithms that make it work.
Only a tiny fraction of us are learning how technology works and not enough schools are providing pupils with the necessary skills to prepare them for the future. That is why the pupils from Year 2 – 6 have been joining in The Hour of Code initiative 2018. Our Hour of Code is making a statement that Reigate St Mary’s is ready to teach these 21st-century skills. We will continue bringing programming activities to your children to give them experience, a passion for and a desire to learn to code. This is a chance to change the future of education in such a positive way. Why don’t you all have a go too! See http://hourofcode.com for details and please support your child(ren) by guiding them to the ‘Activities’ page and try another one-hour tutorial or to go beyond! It’s great fun!
