Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits

Our wonderful year 6 pupils performed the hilarious ‘Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits’ to full houses on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24 March. They were supported by year 5 who sang their hearts out and together, the cast put on a spectacular show.

Mrs Rushby writes:

A school production is always a mammoth undertaking for everyone involved but so rewarding. A cast becomes a tight unit as the rehearsal period goes on and come show week, the energy and support for each other is tangible. ‘Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits’ has been no exception – year six have worked incredibly hard to bring their characters to life, and deliver the comedy successfully, which is notoriously challenging. I couldn’t be more proud of their efforts.

What the children have come to discover, is that regardless of the size of their role, each character is vital to the overall success of telling the tale. Keeping in character throughout and reacting to the action certainly helped bring the events in Old Baghdad to life. Well done also to year five pupils for their enthusiastic singing and movement: without them, the wonderful songs would not have been so enjoyable. It’ll be your turn on the stage before you know it!

I’ve been very fortunate to have had such a great cast to work with and a great support team. It’s always sad to see the stage come down afterwards, but I’ll still be humming ‘Up, Up and Away’ for weeks to come.

Here’s to next year!
