Two wonderful Evensongs..

Last week was incredibly busy for singers of all ages at RSM. Having been at the Reigate and Redhill Festival on Tuesday, the choristers visited Guildford Cathedral on Wednesday in collaboration with 6th Form from RGS to sing one last evensong with them before they left on study leave. Mrs Glynne-Jones was thrilled to find that the habit of evensong has become a passion for senior students at RGS and they are always happy to be supported by their young colleagues who have become experts in this field from such a young age. It was delightful to have the mix of age groups singing in such a beautiful building as we bid the RGS students a fond farewell.

Sunday saw more history being made as the choristers sang a Sunday evensong at St Mary’s church for the first time in over 25 years. The church and choir had become estranged many years ago and although the choir sing Thursday evensong there currently, Sundays have not heard choral evensong for a very long time. It was magical to hear the bells calling a good sized congregation to come and worship with the choir. Mrs Glynne-Jones was so happy to see the progress manifested here on this special occasion. The choir sang beautifully and everyone felt uplifted by the experience.

The next Sunday evensong at St Mary’s will be on 10 June. All are welcome to be part of this special event
