Sports Roundup 6 December 2018

We have had a busy final week of sport. On Monday, some of the Year 5 and 6 girls took part in the Caterham football tournament. It was a fantastic opportunity for the girls to play against other schools and all the girls showed great determination and teamwork in all of their matches, thoroughly enjoying their afternoon. We are looking forward to giving any other girls that wish to play some football next term the opportunity to practise and play in a mini tournament after Christmas.

Tuesday saw the first rugby fixtures for the U8 boys against Caterham. Whilst these were practice matches, there was some excellent rugby on display in all 3 games and it was excellent to see the children putting all their hard work in Games lessons into practice. Unfortunately the U11A rugby triangular at Chinthurst was cancelled on Wednesday, however the poor weather did not stop the U11B’s taking on Homefield yesterday afternoon. The boys played well and scored some very good team tries, however Homefield proved too strong on the day with the match finishing 9-3.

This afternoon, the U9A and B rugby teams take on Chinthurst and Homefield in a triangular, as they look to build upon their excellent performances last week against Caterham. Finally, tomorrow afternoon the Year 2 boys and girls will be taking part in a skills afternoon at Downsend School.
