World Book Day is coming…
Thursday 7th March is World Book Day and once again we will be asking the children to come dressed as their favourite book character for this most enjoyable day, however, dressing up is optional. Please don’t forget to bring a change of clothes if your child is attending a sporty elective later in the day.
We are excited to have author, Abie Longstaff, visiting us on World Book Day. Abie is the author of the well-known picture books ‘The Fairytale Hairdresser’ series, ‘The Magic Potions Shop’ and ‘The Trapdoor Mysteries’. She will be taking some inspiring workshops with year groups up to Year 4. She will also be holding book signing sessions to enable the children to get their own Abie Longstaff book from home signed. We will not be selling Abie’s books in school so please purchase a book in advance if this is something you would like your child to participate in.
Roger Stevens, author and poet, will be visiting Years 5 and 6 on the following day, Friday 8th March. We are thrilled to have him visit our school and enthuse our older students. Roger will also be happy to sign any of his books that students would like to bring in from home, he will also bring a selection of books to purchase on the day, please ensure your child has money with them if they wish to purchase a book.
This World Book Day we will be supporting the charity Delight. This organisation provides thousands of disadvantaged children the opportunity to choose good quality books that they can own and take home. These books are donated by Surrey based schools, businesses and individuals. We would like to hold a collection for this charity on World Book Day. Please bring any children’s book or books that you would like to donate into school on Thursday 7th March. The Year 6 Librarians will be in the playground ready to accept your generous donations.
Thank you in advance for supporting this much anticipated annual event.
