P4C at RSM

It is lovely to see what is happening in P4C classes across the school. In Year 5 this week, the children considered what ‘Freedom’ was.

To get the children warmed up and ready to share their opinions, their stimulus was to think about which one thing they would take with them to a desert island and then to back this up with their reasons why. It got the children all thinking and talking.
This led onto the theme of ‘Freedom’ and what that means to everyone. Some of the ideas were:

To be able to choose
We should go after what is good and fulfils our needs and satisfies our hearts
Being honest with ourselves
Choosing to do what is good
Respecting other
s

They interpreted in a freeze frame what freedom would look like if a statue could be built on this theme.

It’s so important for children to have a ‘voice’ and feel they can safely share their thoughts and opinions in order to learn from each other and broaden their outlook on such vital topics.

Well done Year 5!
