Record Breaking A Level Results for Reigate Grammar
Our senior school, Reigate Grammar had a record breaking set of A Level results this week. Two thirds of grades were A* and A, and 90% were A*-B. The average student grade profile was AAA and the school was particularly proud to have achieved record value-added progress scores.
The Class of 2019 leaves RGS to go on to the best-ever set of UK and international university destinations, with over 95% of the students receiving Russell Group, Oxbridge or Medical School offers.
“This year’s RGS students head off to top UK, US and European universities and are outstanding young people; a delight to know and future game changers in their chosen fields. These are the future employees, colleagues and leaders that any enterprise needs.
Headmaster, Shaun Fenton
The year group is set to pursue a wide variety of career choices, including Oxbridge, medical school, overseas study, blue-chip degree apprenticeships, a top music conservatoire, veterinary science, dentistry and midwifery. Flawless BTEC results (100% receiving the top grade; Starred Distinction) demonstrate the diversity of the school’s new curriculum.
RGS is committed to social mobility, raising bursary funds through its award-winning Changing Lives campaign. Full bursary students were extremely successful, with almost half of their results at A*.
2019’s Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) results are the best ever. In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Mr Fenton shared his opinion that pupils with an EPQ have an “edge” on their peers when it comes to university and job applications, as it shows that they know how to “aim beyond the A grade”.
As ever, departing RGS students have achieved and learned a vast amount beyond the classroom during their time at the school, whether on the stage and the sports fields, in concert halls, as cadets, Duke of Edinburgh participants, fundraisers, in environmental projects, as charity volunteers, or MUN debaters.
Reflecting the school’s ethos that ‘a great education is about so much more than exam results’, RGS was named Independent School of the Year for its pastoral care at the Times Education Supplement (TES) awards in February 2019. RGS beat an impressive lineup of top schools to take the accolade for its ground-breaking Wellbeing Programme.
