#RSMFridayFastFive – Mrs Jayasinghe

Our wonderful Reception teacher, Mrs Jayasinghe, takes the #RSMFridayFastFive challenge this week.

Why teaching? – I’ve always enjoyed working with children.  When I was a child, I was a Guide and one of the badges involved helping at a my local Brownie pack. I enjoyed it so much that I continued to help long after I’d finished my badge. After that, I don’t think I was ever going to do anything else!
Why Early Years? – I love the flexibility of the Early Years.  I enjoy the different topics we do and the fact that we can be led by the children and what they enjoy learning.  Every day is different and it is so satisfying to see children grow over the year and develop a love of learning.
Favourite Subjects at School? – My favourite subjects were definitely PE and games.  I’ve always loved running although when I was at school I was much more of a sprinter and the thought of running long distances really didn’t appeal.
Most Memorable Teaching Moment? – I think the current situation has made me realise that my favourite teaching moments happen day to day, whether it is seeing someone getting to grips with something they really could not do (yet!), watching as activities and topics generate fascination or curiosity, or simply greeting my class as they come into school smiling and eager to share their news.  These are the day to day reasons that make teaching great!
Favourite Quote?  – If I’m honest I don’t think I have a favourite quote.  I do like this one as it reminds me of the need to think positive, kind thoughts.
Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.
