Potato Planting

It is potato planting time so Year 1 in their science lesson this week have been sharing knowledge about potatoes. They have been observing and making comparisons between different types, planting chitted seed potatoes, making predictions and considering what they need to do to encourage them to grow and produce a successful yield. The children really enjoyed finding out about the many different varieties and were blown away by the fact that there are over 1,000 different types of potatoes! They worked fantastically in small groups to prepare the tubs and each planted a seed potato of their own and are so excited about harvesting the crop at the start of July.
