The Times names Reigate as one of the best places to live 2023
‘Why Reigate, Surrey, is one of the best places to live 2023’
An article in The Sunday Times on 26 March 2023 highlighted Reigate as one of the best places to live in the UK.
RGS had a special mention in the article, naming us as one of the main attractions.
‘This Surrey market town in the shadow of the North Downs, and within occasional earshot of the M25, is continuing to attract younger relocators from London suburbs while also charming those who grew up here into staying put and starting a family. So the competition for schools is fierce, and the rising star of the independent Reigate Grammar School is a main attraction.’
The article also mentions our vibrant high street and its offerings:
‘….from hardware to a Harley Street Skin Clinic, Wagamama to Whistles, Morrisons to M&S. There is a bag-for-life’s worth of boutiques (Gerrards, Quattro Rish, Mint Velvet, Oliver Bonas, Space NK, Sweaty Betty), plus charity shops, estate agencies, nail bars and a florist, as well as Click, a welcome and welcoming tech repair shop.
The Everyman cinema provides welcome culture, as does the busy Waterstones and Oxfam Bookshop. There are also new gallery openings, most notably Adam’s Gallery, while art-K offers classes for kids of all ages.’
The location of Reigate makes it accessible for easy travel to the capital, and in turns makes RGS an accessible choice for those travelling from London and the areas in between.
‘By train it’s about 50 minutes to London Victoria and 45 minutes to London Bridge, the latter with a change at Redhill. Things speed up if you drive 10 minutes to Merstham or Redhill (both accept Oyster cards), taking 35 minutes to reach Victoria and 30 minutes to London Bridge. Gatwick airport is a 20-minute train journey from Reigate, and Reading and Brighton are an hour’s drive away.’
