Coronation Celebrations at RSM

It has been a busy day of coronation celebrations at RSM, starting this morning in Matins with a lovely rendition of Jerusalem followed by O Taste and See. Taken from Psalm 34:8, the communion anthem was specially commissioned from Vaughan Williams for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and first sung at Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953 at the point in the service where the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh advanced to the steps of the altar for the administration of bread and wine. Vaughan Williams grew up locally in Leith Hill, and it was lovely to listen to the choir singing such a beautiful composition in tribute to the new King

Lower School have enjoyed picnics outside, making paper crowns, flags and thrones and Year 2 have created silhouettes of King Charles’ head.

It has been wonderful to mark the occasion during the children’s school day. Something that they will always remember.
