The Power of Teamwork: This Morning’s Assembly at RSM
This morning, Mrs Gibb delivered an inspiring assembly on a core value we place great importance on at RSM – teamwork. As we look ahead to an exciting half term filled with events like Sports Day, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the importance of working together.
Mrs Gibb highlighted how teamwork is present in so many areas of our lives. Whether it’s sports teams, orchestras, families, school Houses, dance groups, church communities, bands, or even government – all these groups rely on strong teamwork to succeed. At RSM, we are all part of a team in one way or another, and learning how to be a good team player is an essential life skill.
During the assembly, the children were invited to share what they believed were the key ingredients for effective teamwork. Their responses were thoughtful and insightful, including qualities such as communication, trust, collaboration, flexibility, patience, listening, and encouragement.
So, why is teamwork so important?
Mrs Gibb shared a powerful example from Year 6’s trip to Snowdon last year. The success of their climb was not just about physical strength or determination, it was the teamwork they showed that made the experience so memorable and rewarding. Teamwork teaches us valuable lessons that last a lifetime. It helps us solve problems, builds confidence, and gives us a sense of belonging. It reminds us that we are stronger when we work together.
To close the assembly, the children were encouraged to reflect on what teamwork means to them personally. They were asked: What can we do to be better team players both at home and at school?
It was a thoughtful and motivating start to the day, and a reminder of the strength we find in unity.
