We Are Music Festival Winners!

The annual Reigate and Redhill Music Festival is always a wonderful arena to showcase our choirs, instrumentalists and ensembles, and pupils had been particularly looking forward to performing this year having not been able to do so during the pandemic.

When the time came, our children stepped up to the occasion as they always do and we were absolutely thrilled to be awarded so many successes in such a variety of categories – a true reflection of the children’s hard work, outstanding motivation, and creativity, and the sheer joy they put into their music generally. Notably, the Lower School Choir won not only an Honours Certificate but also the overall trophy, for the second time in a row. The Intermediate Choir were delighted with their Honour Certificate too and for the judge to commend them for creating a magical singing journey. Lots and lots of individual instrumental and vocal successes meant there were certificates, medals, trophies and shields galore.

Music forms an important part of the educational experience at RSM. The school was founded on a choral legacy in 1950 and from the beginning music has been weaved into its fabric. We remain one of only 40 choir schools in the country and this tradition forms the foundations of the modern music curriculum we have today. Not only do the children have exciting timetabled music lessons every week, they also have many extracurricular choirs, ensembles and a peripatetic instrument programme to choose from.
