RSM Sponsored Water Walk 2023

Well done to all the pupils who took part in the RSM sponsored Water Walk this week. 15 years ago, Reigate Grammar School teacher, Mr Smith, and his wife set up the Bakiga project in Uganda. Since then, through a sponsored water walk annually, RSM children and their sponsors have helped to build four water tanks to benefit schools and villages in the south west region of Uganda. In Uganda, 83 percent of people do not have access to clean water and this project makes a significant difference to communities. Today children from Year 1 upwards are taking turns to carry water around the school bund. This helps them to realise the difficulties involved with transporting fresh water in small containers, a part of daily life for many in Uganda, and is also a brilliant way to raise money to support the project.
