Why did you become a teacher?

Ever since the age of 6 I wanted to become a teacher and love that I have been able to pursue the career that I have always wanted to do. Every day brings new experiences and challenges but it is this that allows us to grow as teachers. Working in a kind, caring and friendly environment with wonderful staff and students is also part of why I love the job that I do.

Why Upper School?

Having worked in Lower School for quite some time, it has been lovely to have the opportunity to work in Upper School. It has been great to be a part of the transition process from Key Stage 1 into Key Stage 2 and see how well the children learn to adapt, embracing new experiences and challenges enthusiastically and positively.

Favourite subjects at school.

My favourite subject was history and having the opportunity to learn about different people, events, as well as finding out lots and lots of facts too! However since becoming a teacher, I thoroughly enjoy teaching Art and love spending time being creative! It’s an extremely versatile subject and can be incorporated into so many aspects of the curriculum, as my current Year 3 class have discovered! It’s also a great way to relax!

Most memorable teaching moment.

Each week is filled with memorable moments but what stands out most of all is seeing just how excited the children become when presented with a new challenge or opportunity. I am incredibly proud of how well the children have embraced their distance learning this term. Seeing how much thought and effort has been put into the tasks carried out makes a wonderful start to my day!
