Year 5 Africa Day 2024

Year 5 were delighted to welcome Kwame from African Activities last week. The day began with Kwame sharing a traditional story from Ghana, he then went on to tell everyone the incredibly positive impact that Fairtrade had made to the lives of the poorest farmers and cottage industries. We look forward to learning more about Fairtrade later in the term. Art according to year 5 was “Fascinating, because Kwame showed us how to create elephants, birds and tribal masks from the milk containers. We didn’t know we could make so much out of something that is usually just thrown into the recycling.”  The afternoon began noisily “It was really cool to follow the rhythm that Kwame set – the noise was deafening but brilliant fun”  The days finale was a whole year group African dance, teachers too! “It was so energetic and the moves were really wicked!”  When asked for a score for the day – it was an overwhelming 11/10.  A huge thanks to Kwame and Year 5 for making the day so successful.
