#RSMFridayFastFive – Ms Peters
Rachel Peters, Year 2 class teacher, takes the #FridayFastFive challenge this week.
Why teaching? I took a rather long route into teaching; doing a degree, then becoming a TA before doing a PGCE because I knew I wanted to work with children but I didn’t know in which form! I chose teaching because I think every child deserves to enjoy learning and going to school – that is what I aim for in my teaching.
What’s your favourite children’s book? I love children’s books! I love Matilda, and The Witches by Roald Dahl as he uses such brilliant description. I also love Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo…a brilliant adventure with lots of nail-biting cliff hangers!
What was your favourite subject at school? My favourite subjects as a child were History and English. Now as a teacher I really love teaching History and Sports and I am passionate about Outdoor Learning. I love taking lessons outside and showing children the links between in natural world.
Favourite teaching moment? I have so many favourite teaching moments! Some are inspiring, some funny and some heart-warming. My favourite moments at RSM have definitely been during Outdoor Learning lessons – it is lovely to see a child’s moment of wonder and understanding, when they learn something new outside.
