#RSMFridayFastFive – Mr Forsyth

Mr Forsyth, Head of Sport, takes the #FridayFastFive challenge this week…

What is your favourite sport?
I like many different sports but my favourite is Rugby and I currently play for Old Reigatian RFC. I also play a fair bit of Golf and Cricket and really enjoy Skiing. I watch quite a lot of Football and am very pleased to see Liverpool sitting at the top of the Premier League!

Why did you become a teacher?
I have grown up within the Prep School environment and teaching is something that I have always wanted to do. I had some fantastic teachers at school who I looked up to and this definitely influenced by career choice. I really enjoy the balance of classroom and outdoor teaching so the opportunity to teach both Sport and Maths is perfect for me.

Best teaching moment?
This is a very tough question. I would say my best coaching/teaching moment was coaching the U8 rugby team in 2013 when they qualified for the National Finals. A proud moment!

Is there a particular sportsman who has inspired you?
As a huge Rugby fan, my favourite sportsman was always Jonny Wilkinson. His work ethic was incredible, always striving to achieve excellence. And who can forget his World Cup winning drop goal in 2003!

Favourite quote?
Muhammed Ali had great quotes but my favourite would be:

‘It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.’
