RGS Welcomes Micklefield School into the Family

A message from RGS Chair of Governors, Mr Mark Elsey:

I am delighted to let you know that today the Reigate Grammar School group is welcoming another school into the family. Micklefield School, a school which shares our own ethos and values, will be joining Reigate St Mary’s (RSM), Chinthurst and Reigate Grammar School (RGS) in an exciting partnership which will bring with it numerous mutual benefits.

Micklefield School joins us from a position of strength. Like RSM, Micklefield School is a highly successful and financially secure junior school, rated excellent by the ISI in 2023. Within the RGS group, Micklefield School will retain its own distinctive and unique style as an independently minded preparatory school for children of all abilities from ages 2 to 11 years old and with its name and branding unchanged. Under the continued leadership of the current Headteacher, Mr Ryan Ardé, Micklefield School parents will see their happy, kind, and caring school continue to thrive for the long term in its current location.

As a fellow Reigate school and one that is a regular participant in our sports fixtures programme, you will already know of Micklefield School’s admirable reputation. It is an excellent fit for the RGS Group in terms of achievement, ambition, and purpose. All four RGS group schools share the same values and subscribe to the view that education is so much more than academic achievement alone. The RGS group pupils’ lives are full of sport, music, drama, and a host of other activities that stretch and inspire them. As a group, our schools seek to educate the whole child and aim to set them on a path to fulfilled lives establishing a life-long love for learning.

The RGS group goes from strength to strength. Our students benefit both from strong local connections and from being members of the RGS Global Village. The growth of the RGS group both in the UK and internationally benefits us all, supports the best educational experience for our pupils and delivers the enhanced resilience that comes from successful partnerships. RGS has worked closely with Micklefield School for many years and this new partnership will put this co-operation on a more formal footing and create an even stronger family of local schools.
