Masses of room to run, play and explore.

The Bund is probably the children’s favourite place to be! At the centre is a hill, perfect for rolling down in the summer, sledging over in the winter and high-speed fun all year round. Imaginative games are played in the dens, on the trim trails and in the wonderful nooks and crannies scattered around the grassy areas.

The Nature Reserve - pond dipping and vegetable growing

The nature reserve is a wonderful learning resource. It is located just outside our science room and the children use it extensively when studying flora in their science lessons. The pond is full of interesting life and the children love to pond dip to see the newts. We have an exciting Gardening Mission programme which engages every class in the school in growing plants around the school. They use the Nature reserve to pot

Sports pitches

We have four football pitches, a hockey pitch, two multi-purpose courts, an artificial cricket strip and a 200 metre grass running track. Reigate Grammar School’s impressive sports ground, Hartswood, is a short distance away and children in Year 5 and 6 also make use of the excellent facilities there.

The Fort

Our huge wooden Fort naturally encourages the children to jump, crawl, run and climb supporting their coordination, balance and strength. It helps the children’s imaginations run wild, pretending it is a castle, a pirate ship, or a secret base. The children build their confidence on it, taking small risks and learning their limits in a controlled way. All in all, it provides a wonderful break from inside learning, helping them to return to their classrooms after playtime more focused and refreshed.

The Multis

We have two multi-purpose areas for netball, hockey, learning and playtime. The children are encouraged to move their bodies, stay fit, and develop coordination, agility, and teamwork during PE and Games lessons. But it's not just for sport! The multis often host Maths relay games, Science experiments or group discussions, and a host of clubs are held there after school.

Forest School

We have a fantastic Forest School area tucked away at one side of the school site, easily accessible from the classrooms. The children have a wonderful time there under the watchful eye of our fully trained Forest School practitioner. They are encouraged to immerse themselves in nature, often taking off their shoes and socks to feel the different areas of the ground for themselves. Most of all, the forest School sessions are lots of fun and often the children find they can master tasks outside that they have found more difficult inside.

Early Years Play Areas

We have two extensive outside play areas for our Early Years children. Green Shoots and Kindergarten (our Nursery children) make full use of the exciting and varied outdoor area that surrounds their classrooms. Sandpits, trike riding, trim-trails, a slide and a story corner are just some of the areas they can access, free-flowing from inside to out throughout the day.

Reception has its own outdoor learning and play space next to its classrooms and adjacent to the main playground. They use it for lessons, playtime, and generally enjoying themselves. There is mud to squelch, water to splash, paint to mix and climbing frames to climb.

Both nursery and reception children also use the whole site extensively throughout the day. Nursery go on listening walks or nature spotting. Reception likes to pond dip and discover the quiet EDEN area. When they are ready, they also play in the main school playgrounds and on the bund with the other children.
