Register
Once an enquiry has been made, and often following a vist, Registration is the first official step in the Admissions process. Registering your child formally adds their name to the admissions list, and ‘date stamps’ your application.
Offers are made according to sibling priority and chronological date of registration (not enquiry), among other factors.
Registration does not guarantee a place and may mean joining the waiting list if the year group is currently full.
Registration requires a £150 fee and you are requested to complete an online form and upload your child’s birth certificate.
Registration can happen at any time once a baby is born and you have his/her name, DOB and birth certificate; some families complete this stage without having visited us, and others prefer to wait until they have toured the school before registering.
Meeting your child
Once registered, and if we have a space, we will invite your child/children in for a Taster Day (Year 1 entry upwards), a shorter hosted stay & play session (Kindergarten or Reception entry) or will make other arrangements with a view to getting to know you and your child (Green Shoots entry).
If you are considering us for entry into the Upper School (Years 3-6), we will invite your son or daughter to undergo a slightly more formal assessment of his/her current position and learning potential, particularly if you are considering one of our senior schools (Reigate Grammar School or RGS Surrey Hills) for Year 7 and beyond.
We endeavour to meet all children personally before an offer of a place is made, where possible. We hope very much that your child/ren will enjoy their taster visit, which also provides us with an opportunity for informal observations and assessment against age-related expectations.
We will also request your child’s most recent school or nursery report and with your permission will seek our own ‘reference’ from your child’s current setting, where applicable.
Confirmation & welcome!
Subject to availability, we then offer you a place and request the acceptance deposit (£600, refunded at the end of the child’s time at the school) to confirm.
The earliest that this stage will occur is a year in advance of start.
After an offer has been made and accepted, we will keep in regular contact, and your family will be invited to a range of familiarisation and transition events particular to your child or children’s year group/s.
