Because we all remember teachers who made us feel like superheroes

Our teachers and assistants are amazing. The staff room fizzes with positivity and we never struggle for volunteers to help out at a drama show, a weekend sports festival or an after-school club.

Our lovely small class sizes mean that your child’s teacher has time for them, time for you as parents, and time to tweak the curriculum to meet your child’s pace and style of learning.

Nobody is ever bored and nobody is ever overlooked at RSM.

Children benefit from dedicated teachers' expertise in subjects including art, languages, drama, music, computing, philosophy, forest school and sport.

Meet the team

Because computers aren’t emotionally intelligent

With data and information readily accessible to anybody who can use a keyboard or instruct a digital assistant, today’s young people must be able to differentiate themselves via their ability to collaborate, communicate and challenge.

The world needs people who can read the room, separate fact from fiction, and navigate conflict and setbacks calmly and with empathy.

We want children to leave RSM with their EQ just as well-developed as their IQ, with the interpersonal skills necessary to be great friends, great teammates and great colleagues and leaders of the future.

Because we teach children how to think, not what to think

We are training our pupils to find out, to have a go, keep trying, make the right choices, and to pursue their own ideas.

Children are given early autonomy over their learning; using QR codes to access extension tasks, trusted to use the internet for research, and invited to evaluate their own work.

Coding and STEM activities promote problem-solving and teamwork while P4C (Philosophy for Children) encourages healthy debate around ethical issues and open-mindedness in the face of differing views.

Because we have plenty of green, open space in the heart of Reigate

Although we are a town centre school, we are fortunate enough to have 15 acres of grounds, with space for ‘proper’ outdoor play, whether climbing trees, building dens or rolling down our grassy hill.

  • Forest School: Early Years and Lower School children love their regular Forest School sessions in a dedicated area of our site, overseen by our qualified practitioner. Older children can choose Forest School as a club if they wish.
  • Not all classrooms have walls: We have always used our extensive outdoors as a learning environment and not only for play and sports.
    - Young children will often tackle things outside that they struggled with inside, and most days see classes taken outside for mark-making, measuring, counting, foraging or surveying.
    - Green Shoots, Kindergarten and Reception each have their own dedicated outdoor learning areas as well as their own playgrounds, and also regularly use the whole site (while the bigger children are in lessons!)
  • Sport: We have hard courts for netball, football or tennis as well as grass pitches and fields for football, cricket, rugby or cross country. From Year 3, the children use the senior school astros for hockey.

Because we are part of the Reigate Grammar School family

  • Early offer for Year 7: Children receive an early offer of a place at Reigate Grammar School (RGS) or RGS Surrey Hills (RGSSH) in Year 5 without the need to go through the 11+ route. Typically, around 80% of our Year 6 pupils move on to RGS. RGSSH joined the group in June 2025.
  • Facilities, best practice, teaching ethos: RSM pupils benefit greatly from our proximity to RGS and our close relationship with our senior school: all children swim in the RGS pool, children in Year 3-6 use the RGS Hartswood sports facilities, and our informal concerts are hosted in the RGS music centre. Some teachers (Mandarin, choral singing) work in both schools, and we are closely aligned in ethos and practices.
