A Broad Curriculum
The curriculum at RSM is carefully tailored to develop the strengths and future potential of each child. Alongside the core subjects, a rich and stimulating programme encompasses STEAM, computing, languages, science, philosophy, PSHE, the humanities, art, drama, music and sport. Pupils proudly represent RSM in competitive sports fixtures and our Lego Robotics team has an impressive array of (Lego) cups after annual competition successes. Years 5 and 6 pupils perform an exciting musical every summer, and we all benefit from being a school with music at its heart, whether as a chorister or as a member of our ensembles, concerts or informal performances.

Robust & relevant academics
We attribute our excellent academic outcomes to a creative curriculum which is both challenging and supportive, a problem-solving approach to learning, and a breadth of study that allows children to develop their interests. Excellent staff to pupil ratios give our outstanding teachers and teaching assistants time to build meaningful relationships with each child, and to provide stretch or support when needed.

Preparation for Life
Growth mindset is encouraged in the Upper School, where we focus on developing confidence and enhancing communication and leadership skills. From Year 5, pupils gradually take on more responsibility within the school, training as Peer Mediators, while in Year 6, all children have a leadership role in an area of their choice; including IT, Sports, Values, Science, Library, Dance, Drama or Environmental.
Education for Social Responsibility (ESR)
Our ESR curriculum ensures that Education for Social Responsibility is embedded within the culture of our school. Upper School pupils participate in a Community Outreach Programme, explore and debate moral dilemmas and contemporary issues in Philosophy for Children (P4C) and are consistently encouraged to think of the wellbeing of their community and of the planet as well as their own.

Team-building Trips
We encourage and foster children's independence by taking them on fun-filled and adventure-packed 'residential' trips with their teachers. Year 4 stay away one night, Year 5 have a two-night trip, and the programme culminates with a wonderful week-long trip to Wales early on in Year 6.
Moving on for Year 7
We always ask which senior school is right for a child, rather than asking whether the child is right for the school. We recommend that families choose a school where their child’s self-confidence will flourish, and where they will be stretched academically to the right degree, leaving them time and energy to enjoy a rich extra-curricular life as well.
All pupils will receive an early offer (typically at Easter in Year 5) to either Reigate Grammar School (RGS) or RGS Surrey Hills (RGSSH) without the need to sit an entrance exam or go through the 11+ process.
88% of our Year 6 leavers from the 2024-25 cohort progressed to Reigate Grammar School, and 12% of the year moved on to seven other schools, with the cohort as a whole having been awarded an impressive array of academic, sports, and performing arts scholarships to their chosen schools.

Older pupils accept responsibility and grow in maturity through the many important leadership roles they are given.
