Children arrive at school by 8:25am (they can come to the classroom from 8am or to breakfast club from 7:30am) and are warmly welcomed by the friendly Kindergarten team. They independently hang up their bags and coats, so they are ready for an exciting day ahead.

Exploring Time

The morning begins with the children discovering the activities in the classroom. These are carefully planned each day and inspired by different stories, themes and topics. The children are encouraged to be curious and choose the activities they are most interested in. This is an important part of becoming an independent learner.

Morning Activities

Throughout the week, children take part in a variety of enriching morning sessions, which may include:

  • Forest School - Exploring the great outdoors, going on listening walks, and enjoying our grassy play area and trim trail.
  • Music with our Specialist Teacher - Singing, playing instruments, and developing rhythm in our dedicated music room.
  • ICT Lessons - Visiting the ICT suite to explore technology in a fun and interactive way.
  • Lower School Assembly - Every Wednesday, we gather in the big hall for an engaging assembly with the rest of the Lower School.
  • Spanish Lessons - Learning new words and songs with our specialist Spanish teacher.
  • Games & PE - Enjoying movement sessions in the sports hall, and in the summer, making full use of the playing fields as we prepare for sports day.

Snack Time

Children sit together in small groups to enjoy a snack with their friends. This is a sociable time to chat, share, and build friendships.

Garden Time

Children come together with Green Shoots for outdoor play in the garden. They can explore the trim trail, role-play on the pirate ship, ride trikes, dig in the sandpit, and take safe risks in the low-level trees.

Phonics & Maths Adventures

After Garden Time, children take part in hands-on phonics sessions, sometimes indoors and sometimes outside, using sensory play and engaging activities to build confidence in letters and sounds. Our maths sessions take children on number adventures, encouraging them to solve real-world problems through exploration and play.

Lunchtime & Rest

Lunchtime is a joyful part of the day, where children enjoy a delicious hot meal in their classrooms, sitting together and chatting with friends. Afterward, it’s time to play outside again! Some children head home, while others have a little rest before the afternoon’s adventures. For those who love to move, there’s an optional weekly ballet class after lunch and a Playball session.

Afternoon Explorations

Our afternoons are filled with exciting activities, including:

  • Science Investigations – Exploring the world around us with hands-on experiments.
  • Arts & Crafts – Getting creative with different materials and techniques.
  • Funky Fingers – Activities designed to strengthen fine motor skills.
  • Outdoor Exploring – Learning through nature and active play.
  • Communication & Language – Building confidence in speaking and listening.
  • Circle Time – Coming together to talk about friendships, emotions, and relationships in a warm and supportive environment.

Snack Time

After a fun filled afternoon children come back together again to sit and enjoy a snack with their friends.
