It’s been a week full of curiosity, creativity, and outdoor adventure in the Lower School!
Reception’s Forest School Fun
Reception children had a fantastic time in Forest School, where they enthusiastically collected conkers to use in a variety of imaginative activities. From crafting snail models linked to their Super Sticky theme to building a marble/conker run, the children were fully immersed in sensory play and creative exploration.

One of the highlights was watching the children tackle the slack line with impressive perseverance and determination. This balancing challenge helped develop their gross motor skills, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow with each attempt.
Year 1 Become Dinosaur Detectives
Meanwhile, Year 1 stepped into the role of dinosaur detectives! Building on last week’s learning about dinosaur teeth, the children explored how scientists use coprolites (fossilised poo!) to discover what dinosaurs ate.
Using playdough “poo” filled with clues like bones, leaves, and shells, the children worked in teams to identify whether their dinosaur was a carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore. It was a fun, messy, and memorable way to practise scientific enquiry skills, encouraging teamwork, observation, and critical thinking.

From balancing on slack lines to investigating prehistoric diets, our Lower School learners have shown fantastic enthusiasm and engagement this week. We’re so proud of their adventurous spirit and growing confidence—well done, Reception and Year 1!
