Early Years & Lower School English

Lower School had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day this year, with a very special visitor – the much-loved storybook character, Paddington Bear!

The excitement began in assembly, where the children were introduced to a mystery character. After asking a series of clever questions, the children successfully uncovered the surprise guest: Paddington Bear himself! There was great excitement when Paddington revealed his identity.

Following the assembly, the Reception to Year 2 children spent the morning in mixed year groups enjoying a variety of Paddington-themed activities. It was lovely to see the children working together across the year groups, sharing ideas and creativity.

At playtime, the children were treated to a very Paddington-style snack – marmalade sandwiches. Paddington famously claims that marmalade sandwiches are the very best kind… but did our children agree? Judging by the smiles and sticky fingers, many of them certainly did!

The fun continued with a Paddington scavenger hunt in the Reception garden. Paddington had accidentally misplaced several items from his suitcase, and the children worked together to search high and low to find them all. It was a fantastic adventure that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

The morning was rounded off with a delicious Paddington-themed lunch, which was the perfect end to such a special celebration of this beloved bear.

Meanwhile, Green Shoots and Kindergarten also joined in the fun with their own Paddington-inspired arts and crafts activities. Kindergarten even had time to sample a little marmalade sandwich too!

A big thank you to Mrs Brotzel for all the hard work and time she put into organising such a wonderful World Book Day for the children. It was a fantastic morning that created many happy memories for everyone.
