This week, Year 5 had a fantastic time making cross-curricular links between their learning in maths and our combined humanities topic Out of Africa. The children gathered data by confidently visiting different classes around the school and speaking to members of staff about their favourite African animal. Once their research was complete, the children used Microsoft Excel to present their findings in the form of bar charts. They showed great enthusiasm and curiosity while experimenting with formulas to calculate the mean (average) and range of the data they collected. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged, developing both their statistical skills and their understanding of collecting and representing data.
