Year 5 have had a wonderfully hands-on week of learning, combining creative classroom projects, science, and global awareness.
In science, children explored the properties of materials and how they are used in everyday life. They applied their knowledge by designing and making their own sunhats, thinking carefully about which materials would best reflect sunlight, hold their shape, absorb sweat, and provide shade and comfort. This hands-on activity brought learning to life in a fun and practical way!

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight in schools, Year 5 also took part in a thoughtful form time activity where they made fortune tellers to learn about tea drinking in the UK. They discussed the biggest threats to tea production and considered the importance of fair and sustainable trade.

It’s been a fantastic week of learning through doing, with plenty of opportunities to apply knowledge in meaningful and engaging ways!
