This week the children have loved being fully immersed in the world of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Inspired by the story, they decided to carry out our own investigation to discover how to make the best porridge!
They began by writing their own porridge recipe. The children practised their best handwriting as they tried to write some of the ingredients onto their lists, doing a fantastic job at identifying and forming many of the letters.
The children carefully helped to measure out the ingredients, poured them into the bowls, and gave everything a good mix. Once the porridge had been warmed, we looked closely at the three different varieties. Using lots of wonderful descriptive language, the children talked about the appearance, smell and texture of each one before voting on which porridge looked the tastiest.
It was a thoroughly loved activity that combined storytelling, early writing, maths, teamwork, and language development. What a fantastic start to our 'Storytime' topic!
