Year 5 Upper School

Coding with Scratch

Our Year 5 pupils have been developing their coding skills using Scratch, a visual programming platform that makes learning to code fun and accessible. This term, the children have been learning to insert and control sprites while applying key coding principles such as sequencing, repetition, and understanding how manipulating variables affects outcomes.

Through hands-on experimentation, they are improving their ability to construct effective algorithms, which in turn will result in the children designing, testing, and debugging their own interactive animations. These activities not only enhance their computational thinking but also foster creativity, problem-solving, and logical reasoning.

Hockey fixtures

This week, the U10s were divided into two mixed teams for their match against Rowan. All players demonstrated significant improvement in their positioning, resulting in much stronger team shape on the pitch. The girls adapted well to various roles throughout the games and started to utilize the width of the pitch effectively in their attacks, even from a hit out. Well done to everyone for their great effort!
