Reception Learning Highlights – Story Sequencing & Harvest Prep
Share
Reception Early Years

Reception have been busy developing their early literacy skills through story sequencing - an important foundation for understanding how stories are structured. This week, they read the classic tale The Little Red Hen and used picture sequencing to identify the beginning, middle, and end of the story. This activity supported both reading comprehension and critical thinking.

To build on this, the children took part in a picture cutting task where they decided which images belonged in the story and which did not. This helped strengthen their recall and attention to detail.

The children did brilliantly and are now preparing to act out The Little Red Hen at our Harvest Festival assembly next week. We can’t wait to see their storytelling skills come to life!
