Year 1 – Marvellous Middle: Walking with Dinosaurs

Year Group Update Lower School

Year 1 had a roaring start to the week as part of our Walking with Dinosaurs topic! The children shared what they already knew about volcanoes and learned lots of exciting new facts. They worked together to create colourful volcano collages, carefully adding and labelling all the important parts like lava, ash clouds, and craters.

We talked about how volcanoes may have affected dinosaurs long ago and how they can still impact people today. Later in the week, the children became scientists and tested their own ‘volcanic eruptions’ by mixing different liquids and predicting which ones would cause a reaction. There was lots of excitement as the eruptions bubbled and fizzed!

The children were also delighted to arrive at school on Monday to see that their cress had grown over the weekend. They have thoroughly enjoyed their gardening mission - it’s been a fantastic week full of teamwork, creativity, and curiosity!
