This week, Year 5 took part in an exciting World War II themed day linked to our Combined Humanities topic of 'War & Peace'. The children fully immersed themselves in life during the 1940s, and we were particularly impressed with their outfits and costumes, which really helped bring the era to life.
Throughout the day, they learned and performed WW2-era dances, created artwork inspired by the Blitz, and took part in food tasting activities linked to rationing. They sampled traditional wartime foods such as milk sop (bread dipped in milk) and carolade (a mixture of carrots and pineapple juice), giving them a valuable insight into everyday life during the war years.

The day concluded with wartime playground games on the bund, followed by a well-deserved treat of scones with jam and cream.
Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable experience that both children and staff thoroughly enjoyed, providing a fantastic conclusion to their “War and Peace” topic.
