Sustainability in Action: Year 5 Create and Test Their Own Flowerpot Stoves

Year 5 have been learning about Flowerpot Stoves and how they are used in countries such as Malawi to cook food more efficiently. These stoves require a third less wood than an open fire, helping to save time and protect valuable tree resources. The children thoroughly enjoyed making their own flowerpot stoves out of clay, before putting them to the test by melting chocolate and dipping marshmallows, bananas, and biscuits into it.
