It’s been a busy and exciting week for sport at Reigate St Mary’s, with pupils from across the school showcasing their skills, teamwork, and determination in a variety of fixtures and tournaments.

U10 Football Triumph at Home Tournament

On Saturday, Reigate St Mary’s proudly hosted its annual Under 10 A Team Five-a-Side Football Tournament, welcoming teams from Chinthurst, Micklefield, Caterham, and Hawthorns. It was a brilliant morning of football, with a notably high standard across all matches.

Our U10s were exceptional throughout, scoring an impressive 13 goals and conceding just once. The competition was fierce, with RSM, Caterham, and Hawthorns all finishing on 9 points. Thanks to a superb goal difference of +12, Reigate St Mary’s were crowned tournament champions - making it three consecutive tournament wins in as many years!

The team showed tremendous resilience and character, bouncing back from a hard-fought loss in their penultimate game to win their final match 3-0. Their determination and teamwork were a credit to the school. A huge thank you to all participating schools, their staff and supporters, and to our own ground staff, catering team, and sports teachers for making the event such a success.

U11 Girls Shine at Downsend Hockey Tournament

Also on Saturday, our Under-11 girls took part in the Downsend Hockey Tournament, demonstrating fantastic teamwork, sportsmanship, and resilience. Over five matches, the team secured three wins and two losses, finishing in a strong 4th place overall.

The girls competed confidently against tough opponents and showed noticeable progress throughout the day. Coaches and supporters were proud of their effort, positive attitude, and commitment both on and off the field. Well done to all involved!

U10 Girls Impress at Rowan Fixtures

Earlier in the week, our U10 girls travelled to Rowan for hockey matches. Both teams demonstrated growing confidence in moving the ball forward and passing effectively across the pitch. The B team’s efforts were rewarded with several goals, securing a convincing win. Meanwhile, the A team put in a strong performance, narrowly missing out on victory after conceding a late equaliser.

U8 Girls Kick Off Their Season at East Grinstead

Our Under-8 girls began their hockey season with a trip to East Grinstead, playing mini matches against Hazelwood and Lingfield College. The players showed fantastic effort and enthusiasm, putting their newly learned skills into action. There was confident dribbling from all teams and noticeable improvements in tackling and defending as the afternoon progressed. Congratulations to all the girls for a brilliant start to the season!

Year 3 Boys Make Their Competitive Debut

On Tuesday, the Year 3 boys took part in their first ever competitive football fixtures for the school, facing teams from Caterham and Hawthorns. The boys played some excellent football and showed great teamwork throughout. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, and they should feel very proud of their efforts.

From first-time fixtures to tournament triumphs, this week has been a celebration of sporting spirit, skill development, and teamwork across the school. Well done to all our players — we’re proud of you all!
