Year 1 had a truly wonderful day on their school trip to Hever Castle. From the moment they arrived, the children were excited to explore a real-life castle and discover what life would have been like hundreds of years ago.
During the day, the children learned all about castle attack and defence. They saw impressive features such as thick stone walls, battlements, arrow slits and even the drawbridge. It was fantastic for them to see these features up close and understand how castles were built to protect the people inside.
Our knowledgeable guides brought history to life by showing the children what toys children might have played with in the past. They also explored the different rooms inside the castle, including the grand banqueting hall, the kitchens and the bedrooms. The children were fascinated to learn how food was prepared, where people slept, and how feasts were celebrated in Tudor times.
Both classes were complimented on their fantastic behaviour throughout the day. The castle staff were extremely impressed with their listening skills, enthusiasm and beautiful manners. All of the adults were very proud of them.
A big thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who supported us on the trip. We couldn’t have done it without you!
