Building Confident Readers: Reception Pupils Thrive in Phonics Learning

Reception Early Years

In Reception, the children have been making fantastic progress with their phonics learning. To help support every child in the best possible way, the children work in smaller groups matched to their learning styles and pace. This allows each group to move forward with confidence while developing their skills step by step.

Phonics sessions take place three times a week and are always lively and engaging. The children enjoy practising their sounds using flashcards, confidently saying each sound as it is shown.

Each week the children are introduced to new sounds, gradually building their knowledge and understanding. After learning the new sounds, the children take part in a range of follow-up activities designed to help them practise and apply their skills.

The children have shown great enthusiasm and are making super progress. It is lovely to see them becoming more confident readers and writers as they continue their phonics journey.
